NOW you can reach over 500nits in non-HDR (MBP 2021)

I just tried the new lunar version and now we have the option to go past 500nits in non-HDR content.
From the changelog:

• XDR Brightness: go past the 500 nits limit of the new 2021 MacBook Pro and Pro Display XDR
  • Warning: this is experimental. The system may become unresponsive for a few seconds when toggling this option
  • Animation glitches are expected when this is enabled

Nah this is awesome!

kvlq, probably best for when your on the mains but have you tried it on battery? What's the impact?

No, i didnt check it on battery...
For me it will be useful when im outside, in sunlight.

Till now it works as intended.. no issues so far. But of course i do not use it all the time.
