Legitimate Black Lives Matter case, a stupid cop mindlessly shooting.

Ex-Atlanta cop James Burns indicted on murder charges in death of unarmed driver Deravis Caine Rogers

ATLANTA — A grand jury on Wednesday charged a white former Atlanta police officer with felony murder and other crimes in the death of an unarmed black man.

The Fulton County grand jury also indicted James Burns on charges of aggravated assault, making a false statement and two counts of violation of oath of office in the June 22 killing of 22-year-old Deravis Caine Rogers, according to defense attorney Drew Findling. Burns has been out on bond since his arrest.

Prosecutors said Burns fired into Rogers' vehicle while responding to a call about a suspicious person, even though Burns wasn't in danger and had no way to identify Rogers as the reported suspicious person.

He wasn't brought to justice yet. Let's see what happens at the trial.

Doh, you're right. At least he is on the road to justice. Now the task is for the prosecutor to be competent.

Looks like they caught him lying about what happened. Gotta hold him accountable.

Yes, it is encouraging to see this former cop being held accountable for his actions but I don't believe this particular case as of yet qualifies as a "Black Lives Matter" matter, no pun intended. BLM typically gets involved when the justice system fails to bring justice to a perceived injustice to a black person.

Exactly. Hopefully he will be convicted on all charges.

A cop knowingly lying on a police report should be a 10 year minimum, so even if they are cleared of the crime, they get hooked with filing a false report.

Agreed. Those who take an oath to uphold the law should face stiffer penalties for breaking it than a regular citizen.

All too often, however, they face much less, and that is the biggest problem in our policing today. Much bigger than racism as most claim.

This should not be used as a witch hunt against police, when it's a small issue or an error.

This is a perfect example of cops that should have been thrown in jail for life, this is way worse than that cop who shot that black guy last month with his hands up.
