Fantastic milestone. It is a crying shame it took this long.

How dare they insult the poor mischaracterized coal nugget who wants so badly to be loved. :)

Dinosaurs. They were ill-tempered then and they continue to pollute today.

I realize it's a popular theory, but coal seems far too shiny to be the remains of dead dinosaurs. ;)

    That's cause it ain't. :p

Coal is formed from plant matter. Oil comes, in part anyway, from dead animals.
(although not many dinosaurs, as it was formed in ancient seas)

There is a fringe who believe that the Earth continuously produces oil, like a tree produces sap. I'm not sure if this particular belief has a name, though.

Well, strictly speaking fossil fuels ARE continuously being produced. However the process takes millions of years, which is obviously far too slow to keep up with consumption.

Well, you just keep drilling and it will keep coming, right? And when that doesn't work, start fracking, right? No need to think about any other solutions...that's future humans' problem.

May or may not be related, but Ontario's energy costs have gone through the roof.

Only for upper tier customers. Lower tier customers pay more or less than same. Mid tier pay moderately more.

    Link?

According to this site, the price of electricity has gone up 65% in the past 8 years and projected to increase another 40% in the next 4.

"Upper-tier" customers are probably businesses who are passing on those costs to consumers or reducing the wags of their workers to make up the difference.
