Wow, this is the change we needed – citizens being asked to report on other citizens using their freedom of speech! Basically, Obama is asking the citizenry to repost ‘fishy’ information on healthcare DIRECTLY to the White House at the following address

Here are some FACTS on the current proposals to reform healthcare
    • 1. Obama wants to gut health care
    • 2. Obama wants to provide it illiegal aliens, at the cost of citizens, who have paid into the systems for decades
    • 3. Obama will end choice and private plans, by making them so expensive that that cease being options
    • 4. Obama wants single player, and wants to end private insurance as we know it
    • 5. Obama wants to have total control over your medical records, with zero accountability.

There, are those ‘fishy’ enough for ya? Please, do your duty as a citizen and report me to Obama! We can’t have citizens using our freedom of speech too much now can we, especially when it is critical of the current Obama administration. So please do your duty! Send this into the following email address, flag@whitehouse.gov, so they might protect all the citizens of this country and make sure only the “correct” information is distributed.

Incidentally, might want to mention that I’m making this post form my MacBook using Netshare on my iPhone, so they might have a little trouble tacking down my IP if they need to send a group over to my house to pound some sense into me and get these ‘wrong’ ideas, like The Constitution and Freedom of Speech out of my crazzzzy head.

I know this board if full of Obama supports – so I ask them, how is Obama asking citizens to snitch or ‘flag’ (as the Obama administration puts it) on other citizens giving their opinions the actions of a health democracy?

Moderators, can the use of this phrase be grounds for a warning/temporary ban?

Seriously. It's getting old. It was never clever.

In fact, since the PRSI guidelines state: The purpose of this forum is to inform and educate through a free exchange and analysis of facts, opinions, and ideas.

Can posting garbage like this be grounds for moderator action since this is not factual?

Agreed. Also should ban for the same reasons the phrase: "Where were you when Bush..."

So, I guess we made up the address "flag@whitehouse.gov" The name says it all, they want you to flag (mark for review) fishy comments on healthcare. You can blame the right wing media ll you like, but it does not take away from the fact that THEY CREATED THE ADDRESS and they asked citizens to report on other citizen. Can you show a source that shows they did not make the "flag" address and did not ask for the reporting of "fishy" information?

It seems like the lefts answer to all bad publicity goes like this...

Please, show us that "flag@whitehouse.gov" never existed!

The address exists and the WH made it. What's your point? They want to know the various forms of bullcrap the wingnuts are putting out there so they can get the truth out there.

What is not factual. There was a little tongue and cheek, but I included a link to ABC news on the story. Also, the address flag@whitehouse.gov does exist. Also, there have been reports on FOX news on this as well. Where have I lied? Show me, and I'll give links to reputable news sources that back up what Im posting.

By the way, this is from the New York Times..

    http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/06/health/policy/06health.html

It list an Obama offical and what they said and the address where they want you to send "fishy" comments to. Look it up and get the facts brother.

Also, this is a posting from him,Macon Phillips, on whitehouse.gov

    http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/change_has_come_to_whitehouse-gov/

In closing, please show me where I lied in my original post. If I did, I will correct post haste.

Get some truth there. Otherwise we are all just proponents of someone's game. The President is trying to take a small step towards people not having to decide whether to be sick, or to be bankrupt. You shouldn't have to choose.

    Swing and a miss.....

The sort of crap that's not factual is the BS the right wing is spouting off about health care reform, about how it will kill all seniors and raise your taxes by a gajillion dollars and insure all the illegal immigrants. I'm not denying the email address exists. It does, and it's purpose is for people to get the truth on healthcare reform. And what you're making up is this whole conspiracy about how secret agents are going to track you down and silence you if anyone e-mails that address. That is complete bulls**t, and you and I both know it.

And if your "links to reputable news sources" include Faux News, don't waste your time.

That is not the point. The point is this – it’s a scary day when there is a system in place for reporting the opinions of citizens to the Federal Government, even though they do not break the law in any conceivable manner.

The raft of criticism in the first post were what I feel is the generic ‘anti’ position, and I give them for dramatic effect. Why? Because based on the request from the Obama administration, they want you to report as “fishy” (their word, not mine) for an unspecified action.

I don’t think they are going to send out the paddy wagon on me, but the mere fact that the government / the Obama administration is asking you to report comments like this is crossing a major line and should send a chill down everyone’s back, no matter your party affiliation.

Full of Win (if that is your real name), I have reported your thread to Obama directly.

He's currently on his way over from his birth town mosque in Kenya to lay the smack down and to place you in a hospital where the cost of treatment will be funded by the rest of American citizens.

It's not reporting opinions! A complete lie about the healthcare bill is not an opinion, it's a lie, pulled right out of someone's ass. An opinion is "I don't think the government should be involved with health care." A lie, which they want to know about is "Obama is going to kill all the old people"

Who the hell is this intimidating? This is asking the public for help to clarify the truth about the lies being spread. Only a paranoid person afraid of being exposed for the liars they are would have something to fear.

    *fwump*

What was that sound? That was the sound of your credibility bursting into flames.

You're both so obviously blinded by partisanship that you've so completely misunderstood the point of the system. The point is to collect, and then correct, information that's being presented to average citizens. Of course, the administration could do this on its own, but this allows citizens to ask essentially "is this true?"

Furthermore, weren't you two fundamental supporters of the Bush administration's warrant-less wiretaps? Since the Bush administration, the White House shouldn't bother, they can just filter through the NSA's tap at the AT&T building and read the email before it gets to the whitehouse.gov server.
This is what gets your dander up?

Reading your posts is the intellectual equivalent of kool-aid commercial.

So it is evil and abhorrent to ask (as in "not force") people to report things they think are blatant lies, but it is patriotic, American, and morally justified to take information illegally via warrentless wiretapping. Got it.

And the idea of a "snitch" is insanely ridiculous. If somebody is doing something which could harmfully effect another, they deserve to be caught. End of story. People who talk about "snitches," in my experience, are more often than not perpetrating the activity they do not want others to report in the first place, and use peer pressure to guilt others into remaining silent.
