I find this disappointing. I have no problem with extradition of these suspects where appropriate or with collaboration with foreign officials during a domestic interrigation, but there seems to be little point in the rendition process as it has grown up other than a back-door method of using torture.

Yeah, I saw the NYT version of the article you posted, alongside this one. In terms of the tail wagging the dog, and being that I'm just finally watching the TV show 24, this is entirely too much like the series of decisions the President makes in that show... Everyone knows a decision like this is going to promote torture. Hopefully the Administration can still pull itself out of this.

Torture or not, it's still against international law. You can't just go around arresting people without charge and shipping them overseas for questioning.

I know... instead of spending money and time to hunt down people outside let them control the inside

How long until the Obama fanboys declare rendition acceptable? I was under the assumption this administration had declared victory, that there are no longer any terrorists- none to begin with, in fact,, and that the 'War of Terror', as they call it, was over...

    Never, perhaps?

If you read this thread at all, you would see that those of us who voted for Obama are incredibly disappointed by the decision to continue rendition.
