Barack Obama: The 50 facts you might not know
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/new...ck-Obama-The-50-facts-you-might-not-know.html

I loved that. Spiderman and Conan the Barbarian. NERD! :D Somehow I doubt my wife will accept this as a vindication of my comic collecting habits. She's partial to the fact that I can illustrate professionally as an excuse, but "Obama does too" gives me no pass. :)

I knew that about his father. I hear Obama worked in a Wallstreet trading firm for a time too. Can't remember the details though.
Let's hope... HOPE... this means no sex scandals. I'm glad that YouTube thing had a happy ending.

He plans to install a basketball court in the White House grounds? I can't see many other presidents using this... especially if someone like McCain gets into office.

The guy is a nerd, maybe a geek

The evidence is building up. Collecting Spiderman Comics, playing Scrabble and reads Harry Potter.

Each president gets to add something special. IIRC, Nixon installed the bowling alley (and let's face it, we know Obama isn't going to use that :p).

Not really. You can actually do that for most threads in the PRSI forum. Go try it.
Or else you would have... not continued reading or posted in the thread? I guess its too much to hope for. Not caring is a very tough art form these days. Most of its practitioners are unsung heroes. ;)
    Fixed that for you.

It makes him "human", I am glad, he's one of "us"... :p

I picture him sneakin' out the back door of the White House just to grab a few drags before he signs the next bill...

Obama's been working on butting out and quitting smoking. There haven't been any reports lately if he's doing well or still sneaks out for a puff.

But I think that list was interesting. Too often, politicians and leaders are made into something iconic. It's nice to see another side of them and a humanifying element.

I think they give out Irish ancestry automatically when someone is either born or becomes a US citizen :D

I'm beginning to like this guy. All that stuff he's into are exactly the sort of things those that value intelligence over bravado get attracted towards.

Either that or I'm just getting really old and square to the point where I can actually relate to a politician :D

Well said. It's not like he's Joe from down the block. People on FOX keep saying "Who is Barack Obama?" Its usually details like these that help to fill in the gaps. Of course they'll keep asking until they get the really bad stuff.

Let's see how long before one Stan Lee shows up on the White House grounds thanking Obama for his Spider-Man comics collection. ;)

Stan Lee should be National Security Adviser. "With great power comes great responsibility." If he had been in the Bush White House, we might not be in the mess we're in.

Of course, if Stan Lee had been in the Bush White House, Cheney would have sicced Bullseye on him.
