This is a joke. What did Obama do in 2012 exactly that was bigger than Higgs Boson? I agreed with the Protestor winning last year, but Obama didn't do anything to win it this year.....

Well I'm glad he was reelected, but not worthy of being named person of the year over it....

Perhaps Romney should be MotY, for pulling defeat from the jaws of victory.
Or the Republican party for alienating its own constituents.

I still cannot believe that he was given the 'Peace Prize' back in 2009.

I think that Obama is a good President of the USA, but seriously The Nobel Peace Prize no way.:(

The leftists won an election and also control the times among numerous other media sources, not sure why this is surprising.

If it was Newsweek, it wouldn't be surprising. That magazine jumped over the edge once the Post sold it.

I'm OK with it. I'm sure that no decision could please us all.

The real person(s) of the year...

should be the teachers of Sandy Hook elementary school. Those, who got with the kids into closets and were quietly singing Christmas songs while next door the carnage happened (this still gets tears in my eyes all the time). Those who gave them lollipops to keep them quiet. And especially those who died protecting "their" kids. Those are real people of the year and certainly my heroes. :(

I'm a strong Obama supporter, and even I was taken aback by TIME's choice. I thought for sure Malala would have won... (I didn't see her on the shortlist, though)

He did the more of the same thing he did to win the Nobel Prize - he showed up, and wasn't Bush.

I don't see where Obama was most deserving of this but it is worth it to be able to watch the reactions of the Obama haters. :D

Who other than Obama was the "person of the year"? I mean, take the phrase literally. Whether you like him or not, who more than Obama have we been talking about all year? It started with his campaign, then his response to Sandy, then his successful reelection, and now his role in consoling the nation, gun control, and the fiscal cliff. I'm not sure any American can honestly tell me they've heard a name more mentioned than Obama's this year. He was this year's topic, along with Romney, to a lesser degree. That's really all I get from this. I'm not sure he needed to accomplish something earthshaking to get the title... although I do happen to be in the segment of the population who thinks he's done a great job this year, considering the circumstances.

It is pretty much a lock in for an elected or reelected president to win this. George W. won it twice both in 2000 and 2004. Clinton won it twice although his second time was mid cycle. George Sr. won it. Reagan won it twice and even Carter won it and so on...

So really not a big deal for Obama to win it this year.

That disproves Zombie's theory of since Obama was a Democrat and the Time's lean left, it isn't surprising why Obama won..... A conservative won it for being elected.....

Still don't think it's justifiable that Obama won it this year.
