Well, I leave it to you wolves to have fun with this one.
I thought it was rather unremarkable.
Requires a subscription.
i was able to get to it without one. but here it is for you:
and i don't see why its a big deal at all. he owned up to it right then and there that he misspoke.
Thanks, I saw the article the first time I clicked the link but decided to read it later. When later came it required a subscription. That's a new one on me.
Anyway, nothing to see here. Move along.
i'm curious to see how big a deal the MSM makes of this.
Probably a little less bru-ha-ha than when Kerry botched a joke but enough to try to get the "stupid Obama can't tell 10 from 10,000" message out.
It is nice to see that he owned up to the mistake and corrected it rather than out the undercover wife of the person who pointed out the gaffe.
There was an article in the Sun Times today. It must be slow news for them.
i think that, anytime obama takes any kind of misstep, it'll be Big News.
I think he meant it was $10,000 to be in a photo-op with him.
I think the guy got caught up in what he was saying and misspoke.
completely- but I found it amusing.
Trust me they all make mistakes. During the Queen's visit to White House President Bush suggested that the last time she was there was during 1776 bicentennial. He actually meant to say 1976 lol. Here is one of the acticles that shows it. http://www.edmontonsun.com/News/World/2007/05/08/4162557-sun.html
I hope i haven't imposted thought it might be funny to show other political blunders.
To err is Presidential. To admit it, scarce, and worse, yet, devastating.
and no one thought to start an entire thread about it. hm.
I don't see how Obama accidently saying it was 10,000 is news. He simply misspoke. No big deal.....but Bush caught himself before it was even out of his mouth. Don't stir the pot anymore than it has too. Both misspoke....suprisingly the one that realized he misspoke is the one I least expected....
yeah, that's my point. nobody bothered to start a thread about 1776/1976 because it's not really a big deal.
So, what about the real story here? The fact that they don't have the resources they need ala the National Guard because of Iraq? While the WH (once again) blames it on the (Dem) Gov for not filling out the right paperwork. Even though she did. Yet another in a long line of negative side effects of our mistakes in the ME.
Granted this is no Katrina, and it could have been a lot worse, but Bush revving up a chainsaw for the cameras just doesn't make it right.
Nice segway, solvs. From Obama misspoke to Bush and the Middle East. Who'd a thunk it?
Probably a result of being taught math in public skrools.
Actually I thought it was so over the top that it was funny.
with mistakes on death tolls like this, he is a shoe in for democratic nomination for President.
And yet, I notice neither of you actually touched on the points I made. Care to disagree? Add some links of your own? Or just more snarky comments because you know I'm right and you've got nothing? What happens if we do have another Katrina? Or another terror attack? Thanks to the mistakes in Iraq, we don't have the manpower nor the resources to deal with it, so all they can do is blame the local gov for not dotting her I's. Even though she did. And yet we're talking about Obama and Bush misspeaking. You tell me what's more important.
I won't defend Obama's clutching for votes, do you defend Bush's mistakes?
So... that would be a no then?
Wonder if these people find it as funny as you do SL.
No to what? This thread is DEAD. Reviving it with far reaching connections of how the follies of the Bush administration somehow tricked Obama into saying 10,000 dead is just silly. Who said there was a lack of resources to deal with a tornado flattening a town? They're rebuilding, I doubt they need the national guard for that. In the future translate lack of answer to your question into lack of care about your question.
It was a day old. That's dead? You both criticize me without giving any sort of rebuttal. You're mad because I called you on it?
Where did I say that? Or anything of the sort? I was criticizing the lack of attention paid to the real point, and backed my opinion up with links. I even said Obama was wrong. Nowhere did I say anything like what you're implying I said, but way to twist the argument again.
The Governor. Actually, several governors. National Guard Gutted. Could've sworn I mentioned that.
Uh, actually they could. The manpower, and the other 50% of the equipment they don't have access to at the moment. See above.
If you didn't care, you wouldn't have responded. For some reason, I'm thinking it's more because you have no rebuttal. Feel free to attack the messenger again though, you guys are getting pretty good at that.
I'd rather you dispute my actual point, and preferably you back it up, but again, I'm guessing that's not going to happen.
