Obama was the best black president

    Fascinating evaluation of Obama's presidency:

    Historians sense Obama failed

    Only 12th best?

Gee, you would think in light of the last eight years of hosannas from the press, Barack Obama would rank with Washington and Lincoln among America's academics. But nope, he was only 12th

    From Politico:

Less than a month after exiting the White House, Obama received high marks from presidential historians for his pursuit of "equal justice for all" and for his commanding "moral authority," ranking third and seventh among all former presidents in each respective category. The 44th president also cracked a top 10 ranking for his "economic management" and public persuasion.

The former president's tenure earned its lowest marks for the relationship between the presidency and Congress, with bitter partisanship often stagnating the effectiveness between the two and Obama seeing his Democratic majority slip in both the House of Representatives and the Senate during his eight years in office.

Historians, however, remained mixed on whether Obama's standing so soon after leaving office was higher or lower than expected.

"Although 12th is a respectable overall ranking, one would have thought that former President Obama’s favorable rating when he left office would have translated into a higher ranking in this presidential survey," said Edna Greene Medford, a Howard University professor and member of C-SPAN's historical advisory board.
The rankings by category show a distinctly affirmative action grading curve.

For example, he ranks third in "Pursued Equal Justice For All," ahead of Grant (reconstruction and the Civil Rights Act of 1875), Coolidge (gave Indians citizenship), Eisenhower (sent the 101st to enforce school desegregation and the Civil Rights Act of 1957), and Truman (desegregated the military). Frankly, I can find nothing in Obama's portfolio that speaks to equal justice for all. The court legalized gay marriage without him. A gentleman's C puts him at 22.

Eighth in economic management? He added $9 trillion to the national debt and we never recovered from the recession he inherited. Bottom 10 in that category.

Twenty-fourth in international relations? He bombed countries without provocation, armed the Islamic State, and let Iran develop nuclear weapons. Bottom 10 in that category.

His domestic policy consisted of Obamacare, which elected a Republican House in 2010, a Republican Senate in 2014, and a Republican president in 2016.

Obama leaves the White House having achieved nothing positive on the economic front, nothing positive on the international front, and nothing positive on the domestic front.
Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit sums up Obama's legacy nicely:

He’s the best black president, though, and given the way he poisoned the racial well, he’s likely to hold that status for quite a while.

That's the most unfortunate circumstance of the whole thing. Anything he did or didn't do is insanely overshadowed by his race. Especially now that he's no longer president.

Pence seems to have a clue, so I'd rank him a little higher. Lets say 41.

    Stuff and nonsense.

If one's perspective is such that all one can see is his race, then, everything he does, or did, will be viewed through that filter.

    Not otherwise.

Indeed, that seems the most balanced way to view this thread.

Reading this reminds me that Americans have had some ****** presidents: Harding, A Johnson, Pierce, Buchanan, Bush the Younger, Tyler.

Just like Obama deserved his Nobel prize.

Leftists are always giving awards away too soon. And they're always wrong.

Oops! You accidentally posted a comment from when you thought Hillary would be president of the United States. And back when the Democratic party still mattered. And back when America had yet to utterly repudiate Liberalism.

But now that that's all occurred, you really should delete the pic to avoid further embarrassment for yourself.

The butthurt is strong with you. I did think Hillary would be POTUS, we all get stuff wrong sometimes. I am more confident now though that Trump will make the Democrats great again, all he has to do is be himself and so far he hasn't disappointed.

In four years how do you think Trump will rank in terms of the best President, do you think he will poll better than Lincoln or do you reckon he will be another Dubya?

I reckon judging by the reaction he has got so far from across the world and from you're own country (except for the sheep referred to as his loyal followers) he'll be very lucky to come close to Dubya, you and the few other Trump zombies on here will have him number 1.

What is it with Leftists and being butthurt?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The one thing I can be sure of is that Trump will score higher than Obama. That's an easy call because it looks like he already does.

Why should I care what Leftists do in the privacy of their bedrooms? It's just that it's all about being butthurt. You'd think they'd try ointments or something.

$20 that Trump scores in the bottom 10% at the end of his run. I also bet that when that happens, you'll just blame the historians of being leftist.

You know what it'll take for historians to rate Trump as a great statesman? Another Republican running for president. Because that guy will be like Hitler, unlike Trump who was so beloved by all.

So by your accounts all Donnie has to do to be a successful President is poll better than Obama, got it!!!

Let's see if after four years, obviously if indeed he lasts that long, what he polls, that's what counts and judging by the embarrassment he has been for your nation so far it wont be in the Top 44.

Who knows. It's not even day 30. Oh wait, he should have an unearned Nobel Peace Prize by now.

BTW. The same **** was said about Reagan, there just wasn't an internet to amplify it.

The difference I believe between these two was Reagan was competent, Trump isn't, also even if there was no internet, word would spread about what a moron Mr Trump is.

I reckon he will be the first President to have a nervous breakdown whilst in office, in full view of the world, then again you guys would say it was just him pulling our legs, being the joker that he is;)
