    Obama's Grandmother Dies

Just reported on MSNBC. How sad that she won't be able to see her grandson become (likely)President.

EDIT: According to CNN's ticker, she had cancer.

Man I was hoping she would see Obama elected.

Wonder how the Republicans spin this since they accused him of going to Hawaii for other reasons.

How awful! OMG! Can you imagine? He's got to be feeling so conflicted right now.

It reminds me of a day I had a few summers ago. I had to go to a friend's funeral in the morning and another friend's wedding in the afternoon. My emotions were all over the place.

    Obama's grandmother died

Cruel irony... she never got to know the outcome of the election.

Really sad. And he's still got one or two rallies to do today. Bet he can't wait to get home. Wonder when he'll get to Hawaii for any service.

    Very sad.

She's in Hawaii, which might be difficult to orchestrate in the coming days.

But I bet he does it!!

Blue Velvet, can this be the official thread for this seeing as I got to it first?

I assume he'll go sometime in the next few days, after the election

I had a feeling that she wouldn't make it. I thought about it ten minutes ago. Strange.

Anyway, horrid news. Thoughts to Obama and his family.

More of an empathetic coincidence than a race.
Boy, talk about a bittersweet victory. His mother dying before his first book was published, was bad enough. Ah, well. Hold your remaining family closer.

    that's not always a good thing ;)

But putting politics aside....sucks that she didn't see the outcome.

    touche.

I've felt for a while that it would be some sort of story book ending actually. Its a shame she couldnt make it just one more day. It's probably for the best that shes not suffering anymore though.

Any human being's death is an equally sad thing no matter who they were and when they died. I have sympathy for anyone who is going through that experience.

How sad. From all accounts she was an incredible woman.

My thoughts are with her family.

that is not a reflection on Palin and you know that

im sure there would be some inconsiderate souls who would react the same way if Palin's grandma died
