Greetings to all.

Quick question...

I have an HP LP2475W running off a 2010 Mac Pro with an ATI 5870 GPU. The display is hooked into the MDP jack beside the DVI socket.

Occasionally, when booting the machine- I get this wacky screen full of corruption. It occurs between the point at which the Apple logo and the spinner are removed and the light-blue pre-Login.app screen is supposed to pop up (presumably as WindowServer is starting). It lasts about ~1 to 2 seconds, then the display snaps to a light-blue background and Login.app fades in as usual.

Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. There seems to be no real way to predict when it occurs or even why.

The system (and monitor) work fine otherwise, including under heavy load (SC2, Portal 2, etc). Never once has the machine panicked or hung in any way.

Is this behaviour normal? I mean, the machine works, so I'm not too inclined to actually do anything about it. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this. I doubt it's any precursor to any sort of hardware failure as it has done this for about 2 months now and the machine has been loaded down pretty heavily every day (if I'm not working, I'm usually playing games, and the 5870 is revved up [but never at full 100% speed]).

Cheers,
-SC
