Microsoft advertised that purchasing Microsoft Office:mac 2008 between Aug. 1, 2010 and Nov. 30, 2010 would allow you to upgrade to Office 2011 for free.

However, Microsoft is not honoring this offer to people who have purchased Office as part of a Mac bundle. It is unclear if this is intentional or simply an inability to read the Apple sales receipt. Here is an example of the line item describing the Office bundle from an apple receipt:

SW-MSO 065-9422 MSO

Please post here if you have been declined an upgrade.

In the past other companies offering free upgrade have had the exception similar to what Microsoft is demonstrating.
Roxio offered a free upgrade to a software package that I added on to a Dell purchase. Because it wasn't a retail purchase it was not eligible for the upgrade program. What upset me the most was the fact it was the same price as the retail package.
I can appreciate your position and the consumer can easily assume eligibility.
