Oh the joys of trying to get a Best Buy price match on a phone.

Ok so I'm sure most here probably know how much more Best Buy charges for their off contract phones than any carrier or really any online retailer. So I wanted an S4 and I wanted to get it from Best Buy because I had $375 in gift cards. What I thought would be an easy trip turned into an hour and me talking to 2 employees, the mobile manager, and the store manager. The store manager also called the corporate office to verify what he already read twice in the store. After everything they ended up matching AT&T's price. When I left the mobile manager was visibly mad and complaining about how much money they just lost. Does anyone else have these issues or do I have terrible stores near me?

It's their policy. No use trying to argue with them. They don't price match phones, off or on contract. I tried talking to them when I was upgrading my phone to match Walmart's price. They wouldn't budge. Their price match policy specifically excludes phones (they don't make it explicit though)

After like 30 minute of arguing, they finally priced down to $129 for me. Now they have a HUGE sign up that says "no price matching on phones" lol

Well technically they don't match contract phones at least that's the wording in their price match guarantee. I'm happy that I got the phone but I don't think I'll be going to Best Buy for anything else phone related.

I always thought retail stores either sold the same price(with incentives added) or cheaper than the carriers. Otherwise what's the purpose vs going to a carrier store?

For me, it was the fact that I was going from an iPhone to Android and didn't know if I would like it. AT&T charges a ludicrous restocking fee on returns. Best Buy has no restocking fee. No contest as to where I purchased my S4.

I've gotten them to price match amazons upgrade prices multiple times with no problems, got an S3 for a penny and saved over $100 on the Razr maxx hd when it first came out, was no hassle they checked the price and manager put it through

I've never had a problem with them price matching off contract or even on contract prices before. They've even matched amazon for me in the past.

I am a silver rewards member, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I'm a premier plus member as well, and I remember them giving me all kinds of trouble when trying to price match AT&T on an off contract iPhone 4S.

They do actually match phones and their website says they do. I've had it happen many times with no Hassel. They won't give you the price of a contract phone, but outright prices they match and the website specifically says that.
