Ok I distinctly remember when I had my series 5 watch, I could browse music on my iPhone on the watch itself. Am I crazy this was a feature before on the watch but its not possible on my ultra. Super frustrating.

I don't like to use my phone at the gym (kinda gross but I have seen people use the restroom and not wash their hands) too often. So my phone stays in my bag. I try to only interact with my watch when I am at the gym but seriously it's frustrating when music browsing via apple watch feature worked before and its taken away.

I give up uploading music to my watch is so buggy! I would kill for a watch that lets me upload music directly from my computer.

Someone here told me a trick to help me sync my albums to my watch. Initiate the sync on your iPhone then turn off Bluetooth. Forces your Ultra to use WiFi. Makes moving large albums to the watch significantly faster.

As far as browsing music - I’ve never done this but I do Watch —> Apple Music —> Hit the … on the album then scroll down to “Go to Playlist” then use the crown to scroll the music. Probably not what you’re looking for tho. I can’t remember my Apple Watch 5.

The nastiness at gyms is crazy. Always brought disinfectant wipes when I used to go. Now - Apple fitness at home in front of the tv and a run in the park. Lol

A couple of watchOS versions ago, they used to allow unlimited storage on music synced from an iPhone. Nowadays, the storage limit is capped at 2GB, not enough for me to even sync 20 songs! I don't know why, but that renders 64GB storage of my Apple Watch Ultra 2 completely pointless. I would otherwise fit my entire watch with music, EASILY.

Yah the gym has wipes thankfully but I need the gym environment I push my self on squats and heavy lifts. I cant work out at home i did it for 2 years during covid. I just don’t touch my phone only after I cdone or when I need to touch my phone to change the DAMN MUSIC THANKS APPLE I’ll run into the bathroom. Ugh. First world problems I know but the feature worked before!

That’s weird ! I’ve had a 3-5 gb workout playlist I keep offline on my watch.

Apple's weird restrictions on watchOS always rubbed me the wrong way. Like I can't just download my whole AM library, I need to use a playlist?

My favorite part is when the Music app opens because you're playing music on your phone, but it opens to the controls for whatever was playing on the watch.

That annoyed me so much I had to turn that off. Lol.

I know its so unneccessary just to push you to apple music. SMH. No way I am subbing to listen to music I already own.

do you guys use your watch as an extension of your phone or just health and fitness?

I got annoyed one time when I was hiking and my off line maps were not working/loading. It got confused since I had signal on my phone. Literally that's what I need my ultra for is offline maps. Its really conveninent not needing to pull out my phone to know where to go on a trail.

Ahhhh you don’t have Apple Music, sorry I missed that. Yeah, I see how that’s a big push to Apple Music.

I have worn watches most of my life, but I HATE being bothered so I turn off most of the notifications / bothers. I do turn off all noise from my phone so my watch alerts me when I get a call during the day, then during off hours, only people on my Favorites list can contact me. I also use it as an alarm. But yeah, mostly health and fitness and actual “time” watch.

I also have a 5 day Carrot Weather complication in the middle I rely on a lot.

I went from Yahoo Music to Google Music to Apple Music way back in the day so I have playlists that are ~30+GB total (my workout playlist is almost 6GB). I keep that offline on the watch cuz streaming that just kills battery.

Ever since Apple Watch cellular came out, I stopped putting my phone in a strap - cuz I could answer important calls while jogging (or call 911).

I share the same experience. I only visit gyms in hotels or when I receive passes from promotions. On the daily I have a home gym equipped with all Amazon equipment and store-bought Pilates equipment, weights and yoga mats. I have it converted in a home office room with a glass double door and a single window. I have a TV to watch my NFL games and programs while I follow workout videos from Headspace, Nike Training Club, and Apple Fitness+ on my phone using a MagSafe stand.

However, I primarily use my watch for Nike Run Club runs and play music from the Apple Music holiday playlist. Nike Run Club is an audio-guided walk and run app, so I don’t need the iPhone screen since there’s no video. If I wear pocketless pants, my iPhone stays on the shelf over the racks where I keep my Pilates bands and small weights when I’m on the treadmill for Nike Run Club. To access the Apple Music app, I search for specific keywords with my voice like an artist’s name or a genre and then shuffle the playlist.

It still amazes me the amount of people who pay money for the gym when you can do nearly any core exercise you want at home for nothing. I mean fair play if you need specialist kit like weights but If you're just staying healthy I can stay trim by hiking, doing intense 2-3 minute step-ups at the bottom of my stairs, sit-ups with my feet wedged under the sofa and the odd session on Nintendo Switch Sports for something fun.

I wouldn't want to argue about classes at home and in the gym, there is a place for everything in life. I work out both there and there, and in the summer also outside. I try not to take the phone to the gym because of the disgust, and here you are right. And also because of digital detox - so that nothing distracts. And the statement about 2 GB available is strange for me - I have almost 10 GB on my music watch. Sports for everyone 💪

Apple Watch Ultra is 64gb of storage and my series 6 only has 32 and even though I had only a few runs downloaded on Nike Run Club and no downloaded music on Apple Music (I stream instead at home, only download when going to the park), I still have a lot of space! Only 1/2 of it is used.

Most of it is system files.

Wii sports is fun. I was going to do that for my pandemic workout routine when lockdowns started years back but instead I opted to utilise the Jillian DVDs I bought from the dollar store, which I didn’t get to use pre covid as I was taking pe classes in school, which then Apple fitness+ came in play I started using my iPhone to stream home workouts from that, Nike apps and headspace.

Do you mean like music from Apple Music that is downloaded to the watch? I currently have almost 11GB downloaded to my Series 10.

I think the OP said they don’t use Apple Music. In which case, I can understand why being mad if it’s limited to 2GB. My Workout playlist is tiny compared to my other playlists. Lol

Oh okay. Yeah, I once tried to sync some files I had ripped of recordings and I could not for the life of me get it to work. I know the watch is a companion device but it has a potential that isn't being used.

I'd do some sort of TV-based workout but the floor of my living room is floorboards over a cellar. Jumping up and down on them is not stress I want.

I recall modifying my high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts on Apple Fitness+ during my business trip around New Year’s in January. My company had booked a block of rooms in an old Best Western hotel, which unfortunately lacked a fitness center. Since I was staying on the third floor, the dense floors and walls sometimes made it easy for people to hear me doing jumps if I didn’t modify my workouts. As a result, I had to resort to doing all bodyweight exercises and yoga/stretches in my room. I also had to pack a yoga towel in the carry on bag , which I washed after every workout.

Not only that but they removed iPhone music browsing man from the watch. Anyway lol I’ll stop whining about this. I say vote with my dollars but holy cow garmin watches are expensive!
