I just downloaded this album from the iTMS, and look at what it's showing for the bitrates! I wonder if it's just my computer showing them incorrectly, or if this is what they actually are?

If those are indeed the true bitrates, this isn't the first time it's happened. If I remember correctly, there have been a couple of other songs from iTMS that were encoded at higher than 128 kbps. Nonetheless, that is a great find!

Yep, this appears to be correct.

Song #1 is 6 minutes long and is 12mb in size.

12 mb / 6 minutes = 2mb (2048 kilobytes) per minute
2048 kilobytes per minute x 8 (bits in a byte) = 16384 kilobits per minute
16384 kilobits per minute / 60 seconds = 273 kbps

Wonder how many more like this are out there!

I've got tunes, somewhere, from iTunes that have VBR and others that were encoded at higher bit rates...don't know why.
