How does the bus size impact the speed of the processor?
Is the impact such that a 2.0 ghz new macbook with 1066 bus would be faster than a 2.4 ghz macbook with a 800 mhz bus?

any help on this would be great. thanks.

It's still Core 2 Duo. You're going to want a higher clocked processor.

I doubt it. 400MHz is going to make a bigger difference then the front side bus.

Benchmarks done by Macworld show the speedmark 5 of the 2.0 glassbook is 195 compared to 190 for the 2.4 whitebook.

The glassbook is speculated to have more of an advantage with its more capable graphics system when snow leopard comes out in '09. Snow Leopard 10.6 is expected to take full advantage of the new GPU.

That was a very limited benchmark test.

A more thorough benchmark test show the 2.4 older one much faster:

I also wouldn't really take much from what snow leopard will potentially allow. While it seems like it should be great, I'll wait until it actually comes out and features haven't been pulled either.

I've wondered this too. My friend has a 2.4 whitebook and I've got a new 2.0 aluminum. I'll put them together and run some "real-world" tests and let you know the results. :apple:

My friend has the new alu 2.0 one and I have the 2.4 black Macbook. He upgraded to the 4GB and I have 4GB's in mine. Almost every "test" we did mine was a little faster. Not everything, but on most things. His is fast though. We just did it for fun. Both are great.

The move to DDR3 helps out gaming with the Geforce 9400 more than anything.
