I'm writing this on a 333MHz iMac Blueberry (prolly about 7 years old), connected to a LaCie USB CD Writer 4x2x24x. It was running 9.1, cuz my sister mainly uses it to chat, surf and burn music, up until a week ago or so when Microsoft decided to obligate OS 9 users to upgrade if they wanna use Messenger.
I erased everything, installed 10.1.3 from an official install disc and upgraded to 10.1.5 through software update. But now neither Finder, Toast 5 nor iTunes manage to burn a disc with the LaCie writer (ILLEGAL REQUEST). OS X does recognize any discs I insert, and plays them normally.

What's the best I can do here? Do you think this old machine can handle 10.3? Will it solve the burn problem? Any solution that saves me the upgrade?
