Basically the title. I even considered buying a 6S+ but I figured I'd go forward a little bit. I can get a Jet Black 256GB now or try to place an order for the 8+. My concerns about the 8+ though are I don't really think I like the idea of an all-glass body, and the battery life. 'About the same as the 7+' to me reads as slightly less than the 7+ and they just don't want to admit it. Plus I have notoriously bad luck with first-run iPhones.

The 7+ seems like the more sensible option and the Jet Black is classy as **** even though it'll inevitably get some 'battle scars', but there's a small part of me that considers the 8+ even though I'm kind of meh about it.

I have to decide by tonight because otherwise my local store will run out of the Jet Black 256GB 7+, never to be seen again. I was supposed to pick up one I had on hold tonight but something came up, I plan to swing by at open tomorrow morning.

Do you need wireless charging?

Do you need 4K 60 FPS or is 30 FPS ok?

Tru tone screen?

Louder speakers?

If you don’t need any of these features the 7+ will be fine.

I’m still very happy with my 6+

Don't care about wireless charging or 60FPS 4k too much, though the option to record in that format would be nice I suppose but unnecessary I think. True Tone I'm completely indifferent, and louder speakers would be nice.

All in all doesn't seem like too much to be missing out on for two years.

For what you replied to other poster, iphone 7 is best for you, i have True Tone on iPad and its useless for me. When i turn it on it makes screen yellow, i keep it off. 7 plus speaker is really loud. Jet black is stunning color. Camera has portrait mode, pictures and videos come out very nice. In terms of looks 8 must look better because of glass body. If you are 6s then 7 plus would be a good surprise for you. Then next year buy X.

I’d say go for the 7+ Jet Black because that color is amazing!! Plus you save money in the long run.

I had the 256gb jet black 7 Plus and I got the 256gb space grey 8 Plus.

The key here is that the 8 plus have upgraded internals that would last you a longer support cycle than anything before it.

Forget the wireless charging, the A11 Bionic is a beast.

Is part of the issue that you don't want to wait a week?
Not really, the issue with that is if I do and I'm unimpressed, then there's no more Jet Black 256GB 7+ to buy. They told me they really don't have many left and to get it sooner rather than later, and that was two nights ago.

This is exactly why I wish there was some type of demo to try the week of preorders at least.

What is the price difference between the 7 256 and the model 8 you are looking at?

I vote for the 8

1. True tone. I wasn't really sure what this was, but now that I've researched a bit it seems that people love this. The screen is just about the most important part of the phone and anything that makes it better is a big plus.

2. Camera. Each generation the camera gets reliably better, I'm sure this year will be no different. Plus 4k at 60 fps will be stunning.

3. Wireless charging. This is definitely a great technology that is only going to get more convenient. More and more businesses are going to be implementing charging pads, making it super easy to charge your phone wherever you go. Its
great that the 8 supports the industry leading qi standard. In addition, I hear that new cars have wireless charging pads.

4. Fast Charging. Not enough people are talking about this. Especially with the plus phones, the ability to charge your phone to 50% in 30 minutes is huge.

5. A11 bionic. This is the biggie. Have you seen the geekbench scores for this beast? It blows everything else out of the water. This is whats going to make AR super smooth and fast on your phone. AR is definitely the future, this chip will make sure you don't get left behind. And obviously, a faster chip means that your phone is going to remain fast after receiving future iOS updates for longer.

6. New design. I personally am really looking forward to the glass back. I loved the iPhone 4 and thought that was one of
the most amazing phone designs I'd ever seen. The new 8 will be like the 4 but with a nice sleek shape. I can't wait.

I keep hearing people say how much they need huge storage space on their phones? Don't we all use iCloud to offload
our pictures and video now? You can get 200 gig of iCloud storage for 4 dollars a month.

Unless the iPhone 7 is significantly cheaper than the 8, it seems like a clear win for the 8 IMO :)

Do like I did, I went from using a 6SPlus to grabbing a used 7Plus for $725 canadian. I will sell the 6sPlus for @ $600.

I will look at the iPh8Plus next year when price become realistic.

To buy a new iPh8Plus now with tax would cost me @ $1460. That is insane for a telephone, as I could buy a used car for that kind of money.

Just my humble opinion.
