One of the mail accounts wont accept password after restore

    Just got a new imac, transfered evereything trough TM backup, mostly everything looks good, apart from the Mail, i got 4 different accounts, but one one of didnt download all the mails, and stopped at november last year.
    When i try to open account settings for that account, i get a message "cant connect, please enter password"
    and when entering that, it wont accept the password i know is correct.
    Sending a test mail, works fine both in and out.

    What is wrong, or what can i do?
    I got too much valuable mails in that account to delete and create new one. Its a POP mail.

    Do you have two factor enabled? Do you need to generate an app specific password?

    I had a similar problem with an app on my iPad. An app-specific password was required, and such passwords are new to me. Thanks for the suggestion.
