It will only backup pics taken on the device?

Somebody please try to replicate this for me:

1.) Open up the Photos app (ipad or iphone)
2.) Open any pic from any stream (shared or your own)
3.) Tap the share button up top, chose "save image".
4.) A copy of the image from the stream should now be in the camera roll (yes/no?)

This should trigger OneDrive to start backing it up but it doesn't for me. Again, it only detects cameral roll pics that I take on the device itself or those I save from something like "Messages".

Anything I save from a stream inside the Photos app gets ignored by OneDrive.

Thanks to anyone that muddles through this.

Just noticed this last night. It seems that it is not backing up even my pictures taken on the phone. I did turn on iCloud Photo Library the other day...

open up one drive app, then choose camera roll album and hit the 3 circles icon in the top right, then choose add items and browse to the folder you want to upload from
Ha. I had no idea one could do that. Thanks Piertown.

Thats probably why. With ICPL turned there is no "camera roll" anymore so I suspect OneDrive cannot access something thats not there.

It's sounding more and more like iCloud Photo Library is bad news all the way around. It breaks apps, prevents you from syncing photos over from your computer, loses photos, and so on.

It's a shame Apple borked it up so badly because it was actually a pretty nifty idea on paper.
