Apparently Kushner's company bought buildings cheaply in run-down areas of NYC, then lied in forms required to develop the buildings, stating there were no rent-controlled tenants. Moreover, apparently the company did not conform to construction regulations designed to protect tenants from disruption and noise. (see AP story at this link). This allowed them to make a hefty profit while at the same time gentrifying places needed for housing people of modest means.

But hey, even when this guy's company has committed outright falsehoods in submitting forms to NYC, it's OK that he is in the inner circle of the WH.

I would love Kushner gone. Jared and Ivanka are way too liberal and Trump listens to them too much.

Maybe he'll go back and revise those forms. He has a lot of practice doing that.

Would $31,000 dining set ordering HUD honcho order an investigation?

    Place your bets.

So, nothing about Kushner's ethical compass concerns you?

"Ethical compass" as if your side has one? Since when do you care about an "ethical compass?"

What about Obama's ties to Tony Rezko? Jeremiah Wright? Bill Ayers (a literal terrorist bomber)? Louis Farrakhan? Where was your "ethical compass" then?

I don't care for Kushner or Ivanka and would love for them to leave the White House. They give Trump bad advice. If anything, you should hope the stay as they make Trump more liberal.

"our side" doesn't currently occupy both houses of congress and the White House so I'm not sure how relevant that really is.

The great thing about Trump was that he has exposed both sides of the political spectrum. There's no going back to a pre-Trump political world.

I think Trump is the resulting overflow of the political toilet being clogged. It's a mess that America got by neglect and now they have to get out the mop and plunger. :D

    "Putin has won"

When I say Trump has exposed both sides, this is what I mean. In 2012 you were relentlessly pro-Russian, to the point of mocking and insulting those who said Russia was a threat.

The DNC even made a poster mocking Romney about watching Rocky IV to get his foreign policy: https://theintercept.com/wp-uploads/sites/1/2016/09/romneykerry.jpg

There's no difference between the GOP and Democratic Party.

Why do you want another Middle Eastern war so badly? Wasn't the Iraq War bad enough?

That's a lot of stuff which has nothing to do with Kushner or the topic at hand.

There is. One party is better on social issues, the minimum wage, climate change and healthcare.

Jared Kushner isn't the first developer in the history of real estate construction to fudge things in order to get projects moving and buildings flipped as fast as possible.

Yep, it was off topic, and if anything showed that one side is willing to learn from their policy failures, while the other likes to repeat failed policies.

True. But it doesn’t excuse it either.

... Nope and won't be the last, but it still doesn't excuse breaking the law. I'm sure the in-laws may have given him pointers.

Like Iraq war 1, Iraq war2, and Afganistan? The finger pointing in partisan politics leads to various degrees of arthritis.

True - but he is a developer who is tightly connected and works for the White House.

No it won't, but I don't think him doing it is any more egregious than another developer doing it simply because he's related to Trump and Trump is everyone's favorite punching bag.

The article documents buildings purchased before either one was in the White House.

I realize that. But neither Jared nor Trump has changed. Unless you think they suddenly decided to go completely legit ;)

Making shady deals in smoke filled backrooms isn't foreign to politics either. Is either one still involved in the day to day operations of their real estate business? I'd say they're about as "legit" as any of our other slimy politicians on both sides, they just suck more at hiding their slime.

So was Kushner a crook when he hitched himself to the Trumps, or did they corrupt him?
