i am new to mac, so bear with me.
My son gave me his old ibook, g3, 9.4 hd, 576 mb memory. OS9.1 upgraded to 10.3. It was working fine, then i got message that i was almost out of disk space. Thought i should do a full restore. The 1st cd read and almost got to end and received a big system morsel error. So, i tried the software install cd. Got about 20% done and received sourse file installation tome error. Since this i cant get it to read ANY cd's or do anything but open firmware. firmware is ok( apple powerbook 4, 1 4.2.0f4 bootram) Assuming the 1st cd erased everything from hd, is there anything i can do from firmware screen to partition and format? I read that hd must be partitioned and formatted to accept any OS. I have tried "boot hd" and it said load size too small. tried"boot cd"- boot cd method <load> not found. I typed something else, cant remember what , at this point im getting brain fried, and it said mac-parts: load(noninterposed) not supported load _size=0 adler32=1, and no active package.
Anyone know what all this means and if there it ANYTHING i can do?
