Hey everyone, I seem to have a problem. I recently bought a MacMini for my parents and cracked it open to upgrade the RAM. I'd done it before on other MacMini's without problem. I booted up the mini without a hitch, although this time there was no "bong!" and the Sounds preference panel says that there are no Input or Output devices present. The only thing I can think of was the the wire connecting to the Combo Drive came out and I had to reattach it (see pic attached). I was doing some research and I believe that is the cable that carries audio information? I may be wrong though. What things should I look for to see if I broke anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

This may sound weird, but once this happened to me, but not in your situation. The headphone jack has a sensor in it that tells it whether or not a headphone is plugged in. Check the connection on that input. Mine said that no sound devices were available when this happened. My solution was to plug in and unplug my pair of ipod earphones and it came right back. It may sound weird but worth a try.
