Hello guys
I installed D2 on my comp and got it to work great after configuring video to "software 256" rendering. I ran it for a while off of a disk image i made of the play disk. However, after my computer crashed and I had to power down in the middle of a game, I can no longer select "software 256" as the video option. I select it, finish the menu prompts, and go back and it's back to opengl again. i tried uninstalling once; does anyone have any idea of how to fix this?

sorry, i know this is a weird problem...

thanks

holding opt

Yeah, I did - the things is, the option screen it brings up doesn't seem to affect the gameplay. The screen appears, I change the setting, finish, and then it resets the video setting back to OpenGL automatically. It's bizzare.

kill the preference file?

In your user folder go to Library>Preferences>Diablo II Preferences

throw that file in the trash

shoot, it works fine now. good idea - thanks so much, man!

np.

Trashing preferences can be a good troubleshooting step in general.

Just be aware that you'll lose your settings when doing so. In most cases it's not a big deal, but if it's a game with complicated controls and 3,000 key bindings, you might wanna take some screenshots of the current setup or something before trashing it.
