Opening Folder Lag

I like to keep my iPhone very simple and use only one page and one folder for all my apps. The one folder includes 9 pages of apps, 79 apps total. I generally use the spotlight feature to quickly find anything instead of digging in the folder.

I'd say about 50% of the time when I go to open the folder, there is a 1-2 second lag before the animation starts and the folder opens.

Is this lag normal for anyone else who has lots of apps/pages of apps in a single folder?

I'm on a iPhone 5S with 7.0.4.
