SIX MILLION fingerprints of US govt workers nicked in cyber-heist
We've got to take IT security a lot more seriously.
Great, now I've got to change my fingerprints, again!
I see it as a never-ending cycle, with increased security eventually failing against more sophisticated hackers, or simple human error. Instead of trying to make systems impervious to hacking, couldn't we pursue instead systems that make it easier to recover from it? I really don't know what those solutions would look like, but it just seems to me that prevention isn't all that feasible.
Well, in 2021 the CIA invents a time machine that we'll use to go back and fix the fingerprint theft. That system worked great for a while, making it easy for us to go back and fix any breach, but then in 2025 things ran terribly amok...
Governments are the prime targets of cyber criminals. It's time to elect a Congress that doesn't have the median age of an elderly home knitting contest and knows how computers work, so these things can be taken more seriously.
