New email out from Barack Obama today. There is a free way to enter at the bottom of the email. It's an opportunity to meet the President in New York. Flight and hotel on them.

Being masters of PR, the only people that win those things are ones with great personal stories that tie right in with the Administration's initiatives.

That holds true for any modern President going back 50+ years.

Or it's a Spam email and the 'donation' is going to some scammer in Africa.

No, they are really from the DNC. They've done this several times. I always enter. I'd love a chance to meet President Obama.

    More evidence for the birthers.

I wouldn't trust that link at all. My.democrats.org doesn't even come back as a site for me.

Southern Dad are you trying to mislead the forum into phishing sites as a laugh?

    edit: an old reference.

Neither would I. I have seen several Democratic emails advertising contests like the OP to meet the President or some well known senator at party X. Republicans have the same type of campaign contests every so often. It’s usually used as a campaign opportunity if you donate or it’s a PR thing.

They also look more well done than that email. Heck, the emails just asking for donations look far better. Of course all these groups have .gov domains to operate under - most .org’s probably aren’t going to be offering a meeting with the President while he is in office. He has his own organization to do these sort of things.

While democracy.org is a legit site - it’s my.democracy site seems to be just blogs by individuals who are probably not in of themselves associated with the DNC.

No comment on the site or form, but I would jump at the chance to meet Obama, or any president really. Even a former president.

    Would be an honor.

Wish I could be a fly on the wall during that meeting....

That said, not sure how legitimate this is.

I wouldn't mind meeting a president if they walked into a restaurant I was eating at or something similar, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try and meet one.

This leads to an interesting thought for a poll. If time weren't an issue, if you had the chance to meet and have time with a current or former POTUS (living or deceased), who would you choose and why?

Any of the first four. Easy one for me.

Being able to break bread with one of the founders...I don't think that could be topped.

It would certainly be a chance to clarify a few things...

It's legitimate. They have done this at least four prior times that I am aware of. I entered in all of them but didn't win. You can Google it if you don't want to go through the link. www.democrats.org is the DNC.

Given you enter all these can you post your receipt from my.democrats.org to show that you have given them money and it isn't a sham?

The website looks dodgy as hell. Either the democrats suck at websites (already proven) or it's a scam. Without confirmation I think those links should be deleted so no one gets done via macrumors.

Contest only runs until 6/6. Maybe they'll revise the website to make it even better by then.

No no... POLITICIANS suck at websites. And social media. This is one of those times that both-sides-do-it applies in largely equal measures.

Also, I've seen the WH do this before too. It's actually pretty smart use of social media. Contrary to my point above.
