I just ordered a new MacBook C2D 2Ghz White yesterday from the Apple Store. Will I still have to pay the $4.99 to enable 802.11n? Or does nobody except Steve Jobs really know??

Most likely, the specs you ordered were 802.11b/g as stated by Apple. So unless you are buying the Airport Extreme, you'll probably have to pay for this additional feature.
Bummer dude! I'd buy AirPort Extreme only if the $4.99 enabler would also enable Gigabit ethernet to the LAN port on the AirPort Extreme itself.
