Is it still working? Can you use it simply on wifi or just as an Ipod touch?
I'm still using mine as a phone and everything.
I will be upgrading- I skipped the 3g, and my original phone is working / looking great in its case- and I will be putting it back in its box and putting it on the shelf to show my kids so they can make fun of it some day.
Brought the 3G on launch day, still have my first one. I jail broke it for the heck of it. Now I may give it to my kid as a ipod touch.
I can't wait to see someone say they 'recycled' it. Sounds like the Mac user thing to do.
I'm still using mine, it will become my dedicated developer device when I upgrade to the new model this summer.
It drowned this past December when our basement flooded.
Gave mine to my girlfriend to use on Tmobile.
Sold it. For more than the out-of-pocket cost of the 3G that replaced it.
Using it...holding out for a better 3G version...
Same here. When my contract is up in September I will probably sell it and go back to a basic phone. I have no plans to upgrade to another iPhone.
I gave my 2g iphone to a friend of mine. It's been dropped and abused and it still works great. The iphone is very durable. My brother dropped his and cracked the screen really bad but the phone still worked.
I'm still using it as a phone.
When I ditch it, it'll become my development unit, so I don't have to have beta software on my official phone
using as a ipod touch - sitting there collecting dust most of the time....
If/when I upgrade to the new one, my 3g will become my dedicated dev device as well.
My original iphone bought on release in the UK November 2007 is still my only phone
If the 2009 release iPhone is worthwhile I'll upgrade.
But right now my Original is doing fine.
Sold mine to buy the 3G. Had lots leftover.
Unlocked and sold on ebay to some dude in Australia . Ended up making money to upgrade to the 3G.
I unlocked my first one, sold it for more than a 16GB 3G iPhone... NICE. Will be doing the same thing again!
My original iPhone died several months ago. The top half of the screen stopped responding to touch. I thought about trying to fix it but AT&T let me get the 3G iPhone for the same price as the repair, $199, without extending my contract.
Someday I'd like to repair it and use it as a DEV iPhone. Just waiting to see what the summer brings...maybe I'll have a reason to upgrade and then the 3G will become the dev iPhone.
I just put it back in its dock.
Still almost in the same condition as it was almost 2 years ago. Battery is fine.
Just sold my 2g.
Sold it on eBay and bought one plane ticket to California.
Will stick with my 1st gen which works perfectly even after rough use
My iphone will be much more useful after the 3.0 update...so no worries on the features side. I can live with the slow edge network for my daily usage.
the only one reason that will make me change to the new iphone will be if apple can produce a better or similar build to that of my 1st gen iPhone.
If apple is able to get the new iphone's build quality on par with the 1st gen iphone, I will still keep my 1st generation iPhone and use it as a backup.
sold it 2 weeks before the iPhone 3G released
