    Here's an interesting bit:
15 seconds of exposure to porn seems to have permanently damaged a group of high school seniors:rolleyes:

I remember the old educational film reels in school sometimes they had a couple seconds of exposed leader film used to feed into the projectors that would on occasion have some questionable images. At most this is an embarrassing lesson for the speaker involved and he should have learned a lesson about keeping the porn on a separate flash drive--unfortunately the matter now may be in the cops and prosecutors hands as I have highlighted and he is likely going to have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

The only thing more stupid than having the pictures on a flash drive used for presentations is the ridiculous reaction to a group of seniors getting a glimpse of flesh. How prudish!

Some 17 year olds saw some porn. Who the **** cares?

I'm so mentally scarred that I can't remember if there was any nudity in our sex education but I'm sure there is in some countries.

    And there's always Wikipedia.

I love how the first reaction is to call the cops and the DA. The guy who flubbed the presentation made a stupid mistake, but now I bet he's going to lose his job. The latent effect of an overly religious populous...

Yes, it's unfortunate that a bunch of innocent 17 year olds were exposed to pornography, now they'll turn into sex addicts, drug peddlers, and communists.

In one of our university lectures – I would have been 19/20 I think – our lecturer thought it might be novel to show us some choice shots from his extensive collection of Victorian porn. He was a bit of a noted authority on the subject, apparently.

Anyway, never did us any harm and all that.

Don't forget homosexuality! porn is the gateway drug to further deviant behavior ;)

I sat through a community college art history course like that and though I am not gay the Mapplethorpe slides were still a fascinating part of the lecture just before mid term exams.

It's amazing that they could find a bunch of innocent 17 year olds in the first place.

Given that students saw the images, the school really had no choice but to notify the police, which took the appropriate action depending on the laws in PA. Yes, the kids will be fine.

And yes, I bet the person who had them on their flashdrive is going to lose their job. If you went out to represent your company and showed this, don't you think you would deserve to lose your job? It shows poor judgement, lack of organization, and really just reflects poorly on the company.

Oh the humanity!! The poor innocent babies saw pictures of naked people!! Now they're all going to be scared for life; what'll they do when they all go home and masturbate to their daily internet surfing of porn?

I have read an article somewhere... it was about a researcher who wanted to investigate the effects of porn on young men.

So she went ahead and looked for 20 years old men who never watched porn.

    She found none ;)

(It might be a different story for girls, though, but I think no one will be traumatized at 17 years old.)

Well the person who showed the porn at assembly should be fired. I do not think any one is questioning that. Now if some parents want charges I would say end it with a slap on the write of a minor fine (less than $500).

As for the person they screwed up big time. When ever I make a slide show and it is on a flash drive it is either going to be the only thing on the drive and if not it is going to be in a folder that is clearly labeled and it will be the only thing in that folder.

This followed by doing a quick test on local computer with it NOT and I repeat NOT being on the projector so only I can see it. Then throw it up on the project. Also if possible I try to do a test on the projector with no one in the room to make sure it works. Now that last on is not always an option but everything else is.

Worse case it goes on its own flash drive and nothing else. No way to screw it up. Hell I have even burned them to a CD to make impossible for the person to screw it up. The only way I personal could get in trouble with a wrong presentation being displayed is if the flash drive I am using to hold it fails and I have to go over to one of the back ups with me. The back ups are not set up to be as impossible to screw up. Now my presentation flash drives do some times fail on me but they are give away 1gig flash drives so they are what you call dirt cheap. My good flash drives tend to be a bit more reliable and loaded full of data I need.

If my kid was in that school I'd sue everyone that I could about this. Not that porn is that big of a deal, but because I could.

The only thing that the kid would get out of public education that would amount to anything would be enough $$$ to get a good college education, and I'd buy a nice sports car or something.

It would be hard to justify that the amount of damage made to your child is equivalent to over 10,000$ IMHO...

Or, that is, even over 1$.

    That's funny.

If these were sixth grade students, it'd be a WAY different story. More than a few of these 400 HS seniors have done the acts they were shown or worse.

Suing someone over showing some porn accidentally is appalling.

And charges definitely should not be bought.

    Good idea A.

    Good idea B.

    Good idea C.

Just to add. If making a presentation with Safari or other browser, it's always best to clear the History, Cache, Cookies and Auto Complete before using in front of a crowd. :)
