Pakistan Looking Increasingly Precarious

    "increasingly precarious" or "precarious as ever" ??

    "increasingly" as in "they never used to say this kind of thing out loud". "increasingly" as in "asking for intervention against your own military from a foreign power" is a pretty desperate move.

    it does seem that a crisis is coming to a head.

    Is the military really trying to force out the civilian government? It wouldn't be the first time that's happened in Pakistan. As the Aljazeera report points out "No civilian leader in Pakistan has ever completed a full term in office."

    Whether the government has much, or even any, control over the army or the ISI is something that's been questioned for quite some time.

    I agree. I read a similar article in the NYT earlier this week that echoed the same sentiment.

    They should look at the way we do it, it seems to work well enough.

    In all seriousness, it looks bad. And I don't see the situation improving in the forseeable future.
