That title may go to Sen. McCain himself.
yeah yeah, and obama thinks theres 57 states
this one's even better
"be quiet please i cant hear myself" cause im an idiot and cant think for myself and need my speech writers to tell me what to say
god i cant believe you guys actually want him as president
He writes his own speeches, but nice try.
Meh, McCain's old, cut him some slack. Most 72-year-olds would be dead after a campaign like this one.
I agree, and he must be getting tired, and he's under a ton of pressure....
Still, pretty funny.
i cringed. As much as I dont want him to win, I always cringe at super awkward and embarassing things.
Same for obamas missteps.
Haha, I love that video. Even if he does write his own speeches, that makes him look any better? Logic tells you that if you wrote something yourself, you should have the slightest idea of what the point is that you're trying to make.
ditto. I sometimes close my eyes watching an interview or a TV show because of that.
same goes for awkward parts in teen movies......hits a little close to home.
....you realize both candidates talk extensively on the road hundreds of times right? Mistakes and slip ups happen.
(And writing your own speeches shows you have an independent thought in your head rather than doing what your handlers tell you to say. Arent mavericks supposed to be free thinkers?)
Stealing ideas from Karl Marx is far from independent thinking...
ZOMG hes a socialist!
I listed a whole slew of 'em earlier. Just search YouTube for "Obama GAFFES".
I think the brilliance of the McCain gaffe that's the topic of this thread, is that its clearly NOT: a.) getting lost in the flow of story you're telling (which can happen very easily when talking to a boisterous crowd. b.) trying to run some numbers in your head and coming out with an "off by" error (in the 57 states case, he forgot to minus 10 and got caught between 50 states and knowing there was 3 more to visit, he taught constitutional law and ran a civil rights practice, clearly he knows the U.S. has 50 states... unlike the moments McCain has confused names of foreign groups and misattributed their activities on the record, only to be corrected).
INSTEAD, McCain's gaffe was the WORST type of gaffe. It's the PUNCHLINE GAFFE. The gaffe that ruins your applause line, because its the antithesis of what you meant to say. Marvel Comics produced a comic called the No-Prize book, that reprinted some of their best misprints through-out their history. One of the funniest ones I read, was Captain America shouting to some deadly foe: "Only ONE of us is getting out of this room alive..." and the next word balloon showed him throwing his mighty shied, and shouting... "And it WON'T be ME!"
I remember that one had me rolling. This video is just that funny. For extra laughs, you can look at the supporters behind him start looking around, and you can hear people laugh nervously... then he tries to clean it up, saying how much he disagrees with his audience... and its an absolute mess of a misstatement.
I sware, there's an Obama gaffe out there where his mistatement turns into something ABSOLUTELY lewd (yet still FCC approved). My mouth dropped open. This 57 states thing is tame and lame compared to it. I'm wondering if the clip got DMCA'd, 'cause it was a killer.
distribution of wealth
I think you need to reread your Marx as well as your Obama.
The code words are REdistribution of wealth. You should at least get the talking points right.
The Obama one is great because you can almost see the gears jam when he says "breathalyzer" and he tries to keep on, but then he realizes what a breathalyzer is. Like the 57 states gaffe, you can see his brain working and then faltering because the gears start to jam up.
McCain just effectively ends up in reverse and starts driving backwards, so that now left is right and vice versa and now he's completely unable to steer.
My other favorite was Biden's remark about FDR getting on TV and calming the country after the stock market crashed. He's just so busy talking that he doesn't figure out he's completely wrong.
Gaffes happen and they're funny. Quayle's mistake was funny, not just because he was wrong, but because he did it while "correcting" a kid.
However, none of these should reflect the intelligence of the candidate. McCain is a smart man who has been talking almost non-stop since January, and Obama is another intelligent man who has been doing the same thing. Any attempt to derive some measure of their real intelligence from these gaffes has an ideological rock to throw at someone.
10 bucks says you've never read Marx.
As someone who has, let me tell you, Obama hasn't stolen any ideas from Marx.
thats the only reply the gop has to the thousands of idiotic remarks mccain/palin have made
They're just bitter. If you think their reactions are pathetic now, wait until post-Nov. 4.
That was hilarious
No she won't be the next Dan Quayle. She is better dressed them him.
