bout time! http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/10/19/pentagon.gays.recruiting/index.html?hpt=T1
Once the cat's out of the bag, it will be very hard to put back in. even if the decision is appealed, it will be that much harder to reinstate DADT.
It's good to see this ending, at least beginning to end. I knew the courts would have to be the way to end it. This is still not quite over, but I doubt they'll start getting rid of people they just enlisted. I think we're seeing the end of this.
I am going to take a lot of heat for this but I am not trying to start a flame war.
Gays don't belong in the military.
I am not going to go any further.
They're already there, so you need to explain yourself. There is no rational reason gay people cannot serve. The fact that other people may not like them is not a good enough reason.
And by not explaining yourself you have flamed this thread.
you just started a flame ware with this following post
Of course you aren't to go any further, because I'm sure you have no logical reason for that statement.
But I would love to hear what you come up with.
it is not that they ended it. It is more the pentagon is betting when everything is all said and done DADT will be gone.
Very difference there.
They know what's happening. The court has effectively done away with it. The government can appeal (and screw Obama for doing so, he gets NO credit for this. And NO, he did NOT have to appeal: http://www.newsweek.com/2010/10/19/...epealing-don-t-ask-don-t-tell-legitimate.html), but it's most likely a done deal.
Gays have been fighting and dying for this country since the revolutionary war. The problem lies with you.
Exactly. There's no reason at all that we can't serve. We can't all be drag queens and hairdressers. Not that there is anything wrong with drags queens and hairdressers.
Feel free to not respond and let us all assume you're just a bigot.
Please, keep breathing normally, for I think we are in the presence of a hit and run artist.
Maybe, maybe not.
But please, let this be the end of it. With all the problems this country has, I can't believe we're still wasting time trying to pump life into DADT.
Yeah, because we all know what a big bunch of wusses the Israeli army is.
Right. Now let's see something decent, and military!
Yeah, and women too.
Why did it take so long?
Our elected officials are ineffective and care only for themselves, that's why.
Thank god you're not in the military. You just say something and don't bother to try and defend it? Or do you just realize it's a losing battle? If so, why stand by it in the first place?
Maybe you should sit around and think about your life a bit more.
This edit seems to be apropos.
Why don't you come back and defend your comments like a man? That is so weak dude, im actually legitimately upset right now. And for the record im not gay, but that's just such a terrible and hurtful thing to say. Just...why???? I can't understand this kind of thinking. It's so contrary to the way i was raised i don't think i can ever understand it.
You, sir, are a flamer.
Congrats, as of right now you've (collective you) won on technicality. The Pentagon didn't actively make the decision to end DADT, a court (as of right now) forced the issue.
Personally, I don't think this was the correct way to resolve DADT. DADT should be repealed when the Pentagon feels that it's the appropriate time.
In the words of Chris Rock, "If they want to fight, let 'em fight. 'coz I ain't fighting"
So when is an appropriate time to kick out thousands of soldiers from the military because of their orientation, during a time of war? is that a good time? We're clearly not that great with timing as it is, why start now?
