what she actually said was
To me it’s broken people – you know – people not being in [a] relationship with their Creator and therefore not being in good relationship with their families and their communities and, you know, not being productive members of their society. So I think that’s the ultimate answer.”
she has a point on the red.

If you take away the religious context, I agree in general. Though I think she has the cart before the horse. She makes it sound like first you have a good relationship with family and community, and then you get to be a productive member of society.

Unfortunately, I think the reverse is true. If you succeed and become a productive member of society, you then get to have a good relationship with family and community. Unfortunately many communities are not welcoming to people who aren't already productive members of society.

Bringing it back to religion, welcoming people into the community before they have proven themselves to be productive members of society is one of the traits of the Sikh that I envy and wish more Americans would appropriate.

Yes, but looking at her quote, its all tied to religion.. which is absolutely false.

Agreed - If you sit on your ass all day doing nothing, not looking for employment then its going to get a lot more difficult to be respected by others that are productive, which are the majority ( that being - productive, employed).

religion is not needed for what is in red, so it's not ALL tied to religion.

Everybody doesn't need to agree for it to be correct. My daughter pretty much never agrees with the punishments or instructions she is given by her parents, but they are the correct instructions and punishments nonetheless.

so how much variance is there and still be correct? what parts need to be one way and not the other? got something like a spreadsheet to show what parts need to be right and how they should be? because it is like a FUBAR when it comes to that with most religions. then you need to fit in the killing part in that spreadsheet since you are arguing for that too.

I am all for killing convicted CHILD RAPISTS and PORNOGRAPHERS Stevie. Yes, that is ABSOLUTLY 100% CORRECT. No DEVIATION. No NUANCE. No REMORSE. Try to sypathize with the victims and NOT the PORNOGRAPHERS, CHILD RAPISTS, and SODOMITES. Try to imagine yourself as a little kid; being stripped down naked; placed in front of a camera; and having some adult stranger or worse yet a family member pawing and ripping your innocence away from you. Then that footage is sent out on the internet so your shame can be relived again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again, and again...

For **** sake Steve!!!!

But keep sympathizing with the criminals, Stevie. Keep it up so you can try to make your little "Gotcha" posts.

****!

That's what most religious people do; adapt the passages that they approve of, ignore the others. Usually the ones spout passages out of the religious texts and tell everyone it's the infallible word of god ... I pity those people who are so blinded by faith they can't see how they miss the point.

It's funny how religion takes credit for basic principles and fundamental values. I wonder how the other intelligent mammals on the planet do to get through life without the so-called "Creator" in their mindset.

If one believes religious texts are the infallible word of God, then there's no room for deviation or omission.
How is it ironic? You do you just like keeping it cryptic?
Because in post #17 you yourself are trying to make a "Gotcha" post.

For my gotcha, there's a commandment that says "Thou shall not kill", it's right in the middle and it's from God Himself. So killing those people you just ranted about is a no no.

The original Hebrew texts translates to "murder", not "kill". They are different words with different meanings. It's a bit of a nuanced distinction.
