I was trying to do a dummy purchase to see how everything would go tonight then THIS happened. Whaaaaaat!?

I don't know if that's specific to just NY, as I believe I saw other people mentioning it in other threads. They didn't say where they lived, but I think this might be a widespread move by carriers to get people INTO their stores.

I'm pretty upset! I wanted to preorder with Apple as I think it is more reliable. Now I don't know what I'll do.

This sucks!

Wow, I'm going to be angry if AT&T forces me to camp vs. pre-order.
Your location says L.A. I'm in Los Angeles and did a mock Next upgrade of iPhone 5s and no such issues here.

Anybody solved this yet?

I just asked AT&T on the Live Chat (literally as I'm typing this) if that was true and the guy said:

Unfortunately, that is true. I don't have any further information on why that is the case.

I also asked on the Apple Chat and they said to check with AT&T because they don't have any information.

I did a mock upgrade to the iPhone 6, and I live in New York and I received no errors.

Obviously we cannot check-out yet, but you would think it would say something then right?

I even did my upgrade eligibility and it did not say anything about not being able to order, in fact it pushed me to the Apple website for pre-orders.

Who knows, but I would really like a firm answer on this.

You can't do it with the iPhone 6. Try it with a 5s.

According to a call I just had with Apple, if you are using or have NEXT, you cannot buy any phones from Apple either online or in-store. You are forced to use ATT if you live in NYS.

Been living in NC for 4 years, use to live in NY, THEY STILL THINK I LIVE THERE!!!
I got this message when testing a buy of the 5s, "upgrades are not allowed for your account in this market"

Old thread bump...
I wonder if people that couldn't order AT&T next online last year will be able to this year. It was super frustrating!

Even though you moved to NC, your account is still listed in the NY "market" where you created it and I would also guess that you kept your phone number(s) from NY.
