I'm amazed how many people I see using iPhones with cracked glass. And I've got to assume it didn't just happen. And that if they bought an iPhone they can probably afford to repair it.

I saw a mom yesterday taking videos with one and then she let her 3 year old play with the cracked phone.

Are people just lazy, don't care? It's weird.

Some people just don't care. Some don't want to spend the money. Some probably are planning on a new iPhone soon and figure it's smarter to just wait.

Some people, particulary those who used the iPhone 4/4S, saw it as a fashion statement.

A lot of people don't care or just think it isn't worth the money.

That's a weird thing to say, you don't really know under what circumstances the person came to own the iPhone, could be a gift, a hand-me-down, or could have bought it from a personal ad

I guess personally I would be concerned carrying around an item with cracked glass, putting it in my pocket, etc

Or they might not have a lot of extra cash sitting around after buying the iPhone.

All the people I've seen are at least middle class, most likely wealthier. I could go into boring details as to how I "know" but I do (re: the town I see this in the most). Nobody I've seen is buying used cracked phones off of Craigslist

According to a handful of posters I've seen in here from time to time that commented that they liked the patterns the cracked glass made.

And don't ask me for links because I'm not wading through years of posts to find what I'm referencing.

Lastly, you will note I qualified my statements. I did not say ALL 4/4s owners. But the ones I am speaking of did have the 4/4s and it's a fact that the glass on that model was more prone to breakage, both on the back and the front.

My kid's 5S got cracked within a few weeks of my buying it.

She keeps it in the back pocket of her jeans and it slipped
out of her hand as she was de-pocketing it.

The OP is right; some people just don't bother getting it fixed.

She won't, so whatever. But I did tell her the 6 is out of the
    question for her, for now.

I like judging others actions that have zero impact on me.

I bet some don't investigate the cost and think they have to buy a replacement phone if it happens instead of just fixing the screen

Maybe we'll start seeing a lot of people who don't fix their bent iPhones

She'll probably be more careful now that she's broken a 5S.

Uh one time I saw this chick play with her iphone 4 series and the front glass was shattered. U can clearly see blood on the cracked glass... It made me cringe

After three years I didn't feel it was worth repairing. Dropped my iPhone 4 over the summer and knew the iPhone 6 would be coming out in a few months. I figured I could just wait it out. It really got less bothersome as time went on, although people's reactions to seeing it are pretty amusing. They're always horrified.

I broke my 5s screen some time ago. I decided to wait to update to the six rather than pay to have it fixed. So I've been going around with a cracked screen for a while. I was actually surprised you could sell one on ebay without too much loss in value.

I have a plastic screen saver on top of the glass so there is no risk of being cut. Might be true of other people you see.

I always find it funny when people say things like "they are at least middle class so they could afford it." Usually the more money you have the more you tend to be careful with money.

My original post wasn't about class or money, it was about the fact that I see so many people with cracked screens there must be a large percentage of those people who don't care. And yet you don't see people driving around with cracked windshields, cracked watches, other glass items that are cracked. It's just strange to me.
