I love how "DanglingPointer" changes his argument halfway through when he realises that he's wrong. I haven't read the rest of that mass of comments yet though!

Cool. Nobody with this much loyalty about a company, whether it's Apple, Microsoft, Chevy, etc. really matters. People with too much time and energy on their hands.

I mean, sure, we all have who we prefer, and there's nothing wrong with some civil debating with logical facts, but when there is blind hating because one likes a certain brand, I think is flat-out ridiculous.

I have a Dell Latitude XT. Those were over $3,000 at launch and had the same specs as a MacBook Pro that cost $1,000 less.
Once you start NEEDING the high end specs, the prices are neck to neck and are no longer a point to argue.
After my XT not getting updated drivers for 7, I don't trust the manufacturers to update all these touchscreens on current Windows machines for Windows 9. I am lucky that it wasn't an actual machine we bought ourselves, it was one the school did and didn't like.

Try say fandom fanboyism/girlism. As a Trekkie and Whovian I see that in both fandoms, from the sniping between factions (I mean within each franchise) to the small but loud fans you think must actually hate the show lots to be amused about.
Agreed. It is comments like the one the OP posted about that makes me avoid many forums. It just isn't worth it to sift through all of the chaff.
i like how the lady changed from mac to iPad halfway through. She says she didn't get a mac because it didn't have a touch screen. Then goes on to say she likes the all-in-one better so she doesn't pass around a tiny tablet. Last time i checked macs were not tablets.

To add i don't see why you would need the mac to have a touch screen, anyone who has used the trackpad on a macbook can tell it is very easy to use with multitouch gestures that work just as a touch screen would, without marking up your screen.

Thing is they're no better. If they think we're a "cult" they need to look in the mirror at some point and get off their high horse. "Oh you can buy a Windows computer for less then $300". Yeah, but what are the specs? An i3? Wow. Ok, yeah great computer.
You know Intel still makes the Celery er, sorry, Celeron processor? Yeah, Best Buy was having a blowout sale on an Acer laptop. Win 8 (no touch screen BTW). Specs? A Celeron and 4GB of RAM, non upgradable (unless you wanted to take the whole thing apart). Pfft. Please. My PowerBook G4 from 2005 running Leopard will probably smoke that thing (ok maybe not really, but still, common a Celeron)?!?! Friends don't let friends by a Celeron/Acer.
Thing is OS X is a desktop OS. Windows 8, not so much. I really wanted to give Windows 8 a chance. I used it on a friend desktop and I hated it.
Look, I'm just going to be blunt. Apple has the right idea. The mobile devices use a special OS designed to sing on a low-powered ARM processor. The computers have a full blown desktop OS designed for Intel and a mouse/trackpad.
Microsoft is doing this whole "One Experience" thing. Problem is, people still want a desktop OS and a mobile OS, not just one. If the iPad is just a bigger iPhone without the phone, Windows desktops are just a bigger Windows Phone without the phone.
FWIW, Apple does reinvent everything they touch. I'm not just saying that because I like Apple, but because its the truth. The tablet market is a great example. Before the iPad, a tablet was a modified laptop running Windows 98/2000/XP (or the occasional modified iBook or PowerBook running System 7/OS 8/9). Now the look at the after. Windows is completely made for tablets now, not desktops. Huge difference.
