This guy was having a warm as I watered this morning. He was kind enough to wait for me to run in, grab the Nikon, switch lenses, insert a memory card, and get back out to the front garden. View attachment 2649576
A fun thing about shooting dragonflies (and damselflies) is that they will often come back to the exact same landing site after a patrol for food. If you just sit and wait from a reasonable distance, they will usually ignore you.

Who is Roger?
According to AI:

**Will Rogers** (full name William Penn Adair Rogers), the famous American humorist, actor, cowboy, and social commentator.

The sign on the post reads something like “ROGERS BIRTH PLACE” (pointing toward Oklahoma). Will Rogers was born in 1879 near Oologah, Oklahoma (Indian Territory at the time), on what became known as the Rogers Ranch / Dog Iron Ranch area.

Barrow (now Utqiagvik), Alaska, has a well-known historical connection to him: on August 15, 1935, Rogers and aviator Wiley Post died in a plane crash at Walakpa Bay, about 11–15 miles southwest of the town, while en route to Barrow. The site is now the Rogers–Post Site (a National Register of Historic Places location with monuments), and the local airport is named the Wiley Post–Will Rogers Memorial Airport.

The directional sign is a nod both to his Oklahoma birthplace and to the local memorial significance of the crash.
