Took a trip to Boston, took a lot of photos, and imported them to Photos three days ago. (iPhone 13 Pro and MBP (2021) running latest software.)

Three days later, none of the imported photos have location names. They appear in the right city on the little map, but each one says "Looking up location info" in the info box.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Three months and several OS updates later, hundreds of imported photos from June still stuck on "looking up location" in Photos. Any ideas? Would rebuilding the Photos library force a refresh? (I'm afraid if I rebuild the library, the problem might spread to other photos.) Thanks.

Arg. Having this problem as well, on Sequoia (MacOS 15). At least one OS update didn't solve the problem.

Have not seen any solution yet. Here are other threads:

Have you tried to repair the photo library?

  1. If the Photos app

on your Mac is open, choose Photos > Quit Photos.
  2. Press Option-Command and click the Photos icon in the Applications folder (or Option-Command-click the Photos icon in the Dock).
  3. In the Repair Library window, click Repair to rebuild your photo library.
