I kind of thought there would at least be a pretty big crowd. In photo 1, an Apple employee was trying to explain to people what the Vision Pro does and why it’s exciting.

Two people were there at first, then about four to five other people gathered around. There was a queue of maybe two other people who seemed they may have been waiting for their Vision Pro demo. I would have booked a demo myself but the soonest was an hour and half away.

I suspect the days of huge crowds for new expensive products are over, the financial crunch here is going to stop that.

AUD$6000 is a lot more expensive than the days of $800 or $1000 for a new iPhone which you'd line up to be first to get it then film your social media video driving a car over it or smashing it for kudos. Not everyone has that much money to throw at this kind of device.

I think it is a smart move to use the head strap versus the band for the demo. The band is prettier but I have to tighten it too much to be comfortable and only use the strap.

I think the staged launch is the issue here. The people excited enough to spend $3500 on the headset were motivated enough to spend a few hundred more to go purchase in the US. Or they waited around to buy used on eBay. So those people aren't there at this launch.

But along the same lines - you don't see lines for the M3 Macbook Pro launch because it is a specialized, expensive device.
