I was just reading through this section of the forums, and came accross the Pippin.

Then I remembered, I had one! I called my grandmother (who I believe had it in her attic, along with a mint condition Apple 2)

She recently tried to sell them both (both mint condition) in a car boot. She sold the Pippin for £3...

Thankfully I still have a mint condition Apple 2 - but £3 for a Pippin. Lucky bum whoever got that.

"car boot" in this context is short, I believe, for "car boot sale" which is like a flea market in North America but you just roll up your car and sell straight from it, or at least that's where the name comes from.

How do I know? Little Britain....

I wouldn't mind betting that whoever bought it has no idea what they now have. I hope they don't throw it away when they find out that its impossible to get games for it.

I had no idea what a Pippin was but I remember the logo for some strange reason and the shape of the controller  When was this made? Early 90s?

Released 1995 in Japan (white version) and US (black version).

Anyone know if it was officially released in Europe?

Hey, we speak American really good!:D

Funny, I went to rosettastone.com and they had seperate lessons for UK and US English. :p

I got my Pippin close-out from MacWarehouse way back when for $89. Still have it, new in box...

I bet it was brought by someone who hasn't a clue of its real value.

Probably will get thrown out :(

Wow! The Pippin had more expansion than all the modern Macs save the MacPro!

Apparently gaming platforms DO need expansion. :p

NO PCI expansion slot on the production Pippin. There is a connector on the bottom which is PCI 'like' but not compatible. It is used exclusively for the add on floppy drive unit. As far as I am aware no other hardware was produced to make use of this slot.
