What level should I have the battery at before I turn it off? What should I keep it in, ideally?

    Any help is much appreciated...

You can keep it in a drawer or anywhere in your house. Just keep it in a place that will be room temperature and will not have any moisture near it.

The cooler the better for storage, actually, as long as there won't be any condensation. Heat is the worst thing for a battery.

The iPhone battery tips that Apple has posted here might also be helpful.

That's more for how to save battery life when using the phone. The OP is going to store it.

Just make sure to store it with the battery percent around 50 and you should be okay.
