I just purchased a Fantom Firewire External Hard Drive and I want to store all of my music on it. How do I get iTunes to recognize, import, and play back music from the external drive w/out copying it back onto my internal drive?

Ok that was helpful but you missed the last part.

After you do such tasks, you can then drag and drop any folder or disk containing music, and iiTunes will create links to them, and you can then play them like normal songs in your normal library.

You can also, simply change the storage location of your iTunes music folder to the other disk, if you would prefer to do that.
