Hello,

I have recorded home videos in 4k at 30 fps. I want to burn these video files onto a blu ray disc.

When I try to create a blu ray with FCPX, the resolution shows as 1280 x 720 and there is no way to increase the resolution.

If I send the file to Compressor and try to create a blu ray there, I can increase the resolution to 1920 x 1080, but not any higher.

My original file resolution is 4k 3840 x 2160.

I would like to burn this 4k video to a playable blu ray disc at full resolution. (I mean, stick it in a blu ray player and play it on the tv.)

Can you please help me figure this out? I would really appreciate any and all input, please!

Thank you in advance!

I thought the FCPX' Blu-ray specification is set to either 720p for FCPX or 1080p for Compressor. Only the newer Ultra HD Blu-ray specification would support 4K and FCPX I believe does not support that yet or ever for final rendering even if the master footage is 4K.

Thanks for replying!

So, which software can I use to burn a blu ray disc at 3840 x 2160?

Thanks!

Does anyone have any other recommendations for saving home movies taken with my iphone 11 pro max in 4k?
What is the best way to play these videos on a tv? I would want to preserve the original 4k resolution.

Thank you so much!

Either Apple TV 4K or Google Chromecast 4K as your player and then render your final movie in 4K HEVC file. Then just push it through the 4K TV either on Apple TV or Chromecast 4K using your Mac or iPhone/iPad. Make sure your WIFI router is at least AC (WIFI 5) and your computer has HEVC decoding (any 8th gen intel with T2 chip) will do. I don't burn on Blu-ray ever as it's easier just to project to a TV using either of those 2 gadgets.
