Hi.
So I'm sitting here with an unopened Tiger box. Very pretty. I resisted buying the iWork, and instead resolved to experiment with NeoOffice/J at some point.
Anyway, I think I want to do a clean install. I spent last night copying
/Users
/sw
/Applications
/Library
/usr
/private
over to my external HD via "sudo ditto -v --rsrc (source) (dest)". Seems like the copy worked. It took a long time, too.
Can I safely do a clean install, and rely on such a backup to reinstall my apps and documents correctly? Will it just be a simple matter of copying /sw, dragging the Apps I want to keep, and dragging my user files back over to my machine after installing? Would it be better to just do the update and nevermind the clean install?
Thanks for any advice. Never done this before... don't know what I'm in for.
