this has been discussed in a few threads (here and here and on Apple support forums) but i want to see how widespread it is.
the "fix" is to do a soft reset (reboot) on your iPhone, but for many users, the problem just comes back in the next day or so. that is the case with me. if it is just a software problem, one would think it would be very widespread since we are all running the same iOS6 on our iPhone 5.
so, please take a photo with the flash on and see if it is firing properly. if it isn't, you will see a bright pre-flash before the shutter opens and the photo will be very dark.
