Mobile gamers on iOS and Android have spent approximately $2.5 billion on Pokémon games, according to new data shared this week by Sensor Tower.

There are six mobile titles that Sensor Tower is counting towards the total, but the bulk of the money - 98 percent - was earned by the most popular Pokémon title, Pokémon GO.

The other five titles that have brought in more modest amounts of revenue include Pokémon Shuffle Mobile, Pokémon Duel, Pokémon Quest, Pokémon: Magikarp Jump, and Pokémon TCG Online.

The United States has spend the most on Pokémon games, with total U.S. revenue coming in at 875 million, or 35 percent of the $2.5 billion number. Japan comes in second and accounts for 29 percent or $725 million of the total Pokémon game revenue.

Pokémon games have been installed by 640 million mobile users around the world since 2014, with Pokémon GO unsurprisingly making up the bulk of that with 550 million total worldwide downloads.

Haven't played in a long time, but Niantic did well in making a free game fun and not bogged down by IAPs. Glad to see their success

That's actually less than I expected. I think the Clash of Clans type games make more.

I’d love to know who the single highest spending player is and have a follow up to their life in say ten years.

Thank you for such valuable information, we wouldn’t know what would we do if you didn’t share that here with us.

I played a lot at the beginning and then tapered off, but now I’m back in hardcore. Niantic did a great job at improving the game and adding interesting special events. And while playing I’ve made several friends IRL. Although I must say I hardly ever spend actual money - it’s pretty easy to get in game currency.

Wow! It is amazing how much money gets thrown at things that only provide entertainment.

Every serious player of PoGo that I've seen (as with Ingress before it) carries/uses an external battery.

Maybe check it out again someday. Lots of new features keeping the game really fun. My family and I still play almost daily.

what is MR for, what are the forums for, many people express their opinions , way of thinking, point of view
whatever you want to call it
    some agrees, other disagrees,
some are honest and call it like they see it
others simply use sarcasm, making it seem like they are saying something
when they really mean something else

    right

That's a nice way of putting it, and it's always refreshing to see a respectful expression of opinion like that. Like you I haven't played these games (for various reasons), but I think it's ok to think 'well done to the company who make them... and good luck to those who enjoy them' without being reductive and insulting like so many people are these days.

    Unnecessarily rude and off-topic.
