Why is it that everyone here seems overly liberal in their views?

I ask since I consider myself a conservative and I really feel like a minority on these boards concerning my views on gunrights, taxes, same-sex marriages, etc everything

I feel that whenever I post my beliefs, everyone responds to how wrong they are and then offer their liberal stance and say that it's right

Where are my fellow conservatives on this board?

You misspelled "trend" ;) (or is it Thread)?

I consider myself an independent. But with the current administration, anybody who disagrees with anything from the "right" is considered a liberal

The board's conservative members all seem to eventually go into one and get banned as a result. Possibly because conservatives tend to be really angry people with axes to grind against progressive types :D

I voted "Other" BTW. I think it's a little insular to project American two-party political thinking onto all MR posters.

I suppose the "Think different" mantra applies to more than computers. Perhaps it applies to society and progression. But that's just speculation.

LOL. Funny, but true. At least on the getting banned part, MAYBE not the why.

But there's far more liberal types on here (of which I am proudly one) than conservatives. Maybe due to the relative age of MR users?

I consider myself a conservative, but since we are so outnumbered here, I tend to keep my political views to myself. I don't really have time to be arguing on the internet with people that will probably never change their views because of anything I tell them.

Yep, just check out the Senator Helms thread to see the peaceful, kind, loving liberals here on MacRumors.

    I consider myself a conservative.

Does moderate=independent? cause that is what i ended up voting.

Cause there are democrats in conservative areas that will be considered conservative, and republicans in liberal areas that will be considered liberal.

I agree, a two party system SUX. We are ending up more and more with almost the same in my many of our politicians. And the ones that don't like results of elections (ehem .. Lieberman  ) go and separate from the party.

All politicians are crooks. Even the good ones. :p

Interesting you say that. I noticed that with many issues, on both sides. I actually give up sometimes on arguing cause it just drains any energy I have left. Sometimes trying to repeat your point when people have no interest in even listening gets old.

Absolutely true, look at Obama today, he voted for the FISA bill. A bill he said he would filibuster several months ago.

I would have something to say about McCain too, but I can't think of anything he's flopped on right this moment.

i'm certainly one of the more liberal people here i think. even if it doesn't always come across.

and why is the poll restricted so much? why bring parties into it at all? this is very much an international forum, not to mention that a political party has little to do with one's personal views most of the time.

If only more people realised that the world would be a far healthier place.

Send them all out to play Paintball I say. Should get rid of some of that aggression they have for each other.

:) Something that irks me but I've more or less stopped commenting on it.

I agree completely. I tend to vote for Democratic representatives when I vote, but I would in no way consider myself to be a Democrat. That party is far too right wing for my tastes but I'm stuck voting for them because we don't have a real left-leaning party here in the US. I'm a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, but they don't ever run any candidates, just support certain issues.

I'm essentially a liberal. The US is a politically conservative country though...in the UK I would probably class as a moderate conservative, in France I'd probably be considered to be on the right.

Are you suggesting that older members are more conservative? If so, may I respectfully suggest that you are talking out of your arse? Thank you. :)

But seriously, I suppose that those who tend to see many shades of grey have the momentum in an era when those who see things as black and white have been represented by a shower of appallingly inept and misguided spokespeople. I'm sure there are good arguments to be made for the more conservative viewpoint, but the present crop of US conservatives have simply discredited themselves by the awful and worsening mess they have presided over.

Don't let your political views blind you to the weaknesses of your preferred candidate. For instance:

That's not the only thing, he continually says something on one TV station and something entirely different on another.

Don't assume things, I'm not for McCain, I just don't feel like digging anything up on him, and nothing immediately came to mind.

I may be conservative, but I'm an Independent, not a current neo-con republican. I guess I am more of a libertarian than anything else.

Would that be from the "screw you, Jack" wing of the libertarians, or another one?

Well, I guess we believe that in allowing someone to be screwed, they will not be screwed as badly.
