I'm a professional designer with excellent color vision. I've taken color vision tests online that literally said that I'm a robot at matching colors (couldn't remember the source, but it basically said I'm a freak of nature and called me a robot). I scored a 9.7/10 on this timed test a while back: https://color.method.ac.

My 2019 5K iMac has uniform color temperature throughout the panel. If it didn't I would be annoyed. I also opened your image to test. Are people having issues with this?

I received my iMac i9 a week ago and noticed that like a third of the screen (left side) looks warmer than the right side.

    Here‘s a picture I took:

Well that sucks and is very apparent to me. I would return it if it was my machine and it still looked that way after a week because stuff like that triggers me. Hard to tell if the gradient is even all the way across with the white in the middle, but it seems to be that way. I used to be more of a display geek many years ago and I know that IPS displays typically used polarizing filters—at least the better ones did. It almost makes me think something is jacked up with the filter with how gradual it is. Anyone know if they still use polarizing filters for IPS? The camera might be exaggerating it since they sometimes pick up on things with filters more, but if you noticed it with your naked eye then it's definitely a problem.

That being said, I would definitely take this over the image retention issues that iMacs used to have back around 2012. It drove me absolutely crazy on an old work machine that they couldn't replace for a while.

I contacted Apple today. They'll send a replacement.

Nice. Best of luck! They should for a machine that is aimed at creative professionals with a premium price.

So I'm not the only one who received an iMac with a problematic panel (poll).

A question for iMac 2019 owners who took part in the poll:

What Device Manufacturer and Device Model number do you have (display) ?

    You can check it here:

System Preferences>Displays>Color tab>Open Profile, scroll down to Apple display make and model information.

Here are the numbers of the iMac I'm going to return:

    Manufacturer: 00000610
    Model: 0000AE27

Please share your Device Manufacturer and Device Model numbers here (please also let me know if you clicked on 'yes' or 'no' in the poll.

I received a replacement. It doesn't have the issue I described in my original post. Very nice!

Must have been some kind of a manufacturing defect then. Maybe the way the glue cured or something? I remember going way back there being issues with yellowing displays with glue issues or something. At least it usually presents itself right away and not over time it seems.

My iMac 27'' 2019 also has a color hue down/left, although I don't think it to be as severe as the OP's. What do you think? Would you try the lottery for a better panel or live with it?
