Unless its a star trek like communicator, no screen, just wear it, tap twice and talk and it connects automatically to the recipient, then its just another smartphone, one with a tiny screen , and ill be upgrading to another android phone again this year.

:apple: innovated with the iPhone, perfected it with the iPhone 3GS, then completely failed to keep up with the competition with the 4 and 4S and now the 4Stall.

the phone looks tiny and the screen poor when stood next to current gen Samsung Galaxy S3, it even looks small next to the S2.

The new iPhone, if it looks like the leaks, is like the short bloke in a room full of tall people, wearing platform shoes to try and blend in, only it makes him look like an idiot instead.

Im expecting it to be totally different.
I'll actually be Shocked if what we're seeing now is the real thing.

Man are u going to be dissappointed. Are u truthfully expecting a totally different device?? You can't be serious...Can you?

If its bigger than 4 inches and has a different look from the leaks I will buy. The Galaxy note 2 is all but confirmed on Verizon and could be the device to replace my phone and tablet. And yes, I do have big pockets. The Samsung 3 is old news; bring on the bigger Note with quad core on Verizon LTE. Apple is really going to have to surprise me and the iPhone 4SS (stretched) will not do it for me.

This is the reason I can't stand android. Your note 2 is going to be old news too in less then 6 months.

If this site were the streets of San Fran I assume a majority of members would riot because there is not a more unintelligent way of expressing your dissatisfaction for something you cannot control.

I would be really shocked. I am happy with the leaks, and would be happy with something different. I really do not see how the leaks can be fake though since they have come from so many different sources. As far as security goes, we do not know anything about the internals, so I consider that pretty good.

Nothing really. Following all these rumours has been fun and all, but ultimately, just take what I hear with a huge grain of salt, have a good night's sleep (the keynote will happen at around 1-2 am at my time), and I will wake up to plenty of news here on macrumours and a nice long video to watch during breakfast. :D

I only bought my 4s last november, have a good 1-2 months to decide if I really want to recontract or not.

Truthfully, I'm going to be highly surprised if the new iPhone looks like what we have seen in leaks. This amount of leaks are so unlike Apple, especially the fact that they haven't made an effort to throw these leakers in jail as they have done in the past.

Here's to Wednesday!

leaks like this have been happening since the 4 with a lot of accuracy =/

I'm convinced the leaks are what we'll get, but I would love to be wrong. And I'd laugh maniacally if case makers got taken in two years in a row (teardrop cases of 2011).

The secrecy and anticipation of any Apple product launch makes anticipation of the current and potential users so high that they expect stars and moon from every new refresh.
I look at iPhone 5 (or whatever they are going to call it - remember we were expecting a 5 last year and got a 4S) as a hardware platform to run the latest iOS (6) more effectively. At the same time, a paranoid me always wonder how every iOS upgrade makes the older devices slower! Are they coding a sleep(5) based on devices every release? Nobody will know for sure :)

It won't happen, i think it will look like the leaks. There is no way that, if it looks completely different, there wouldn't be any leaks on the supply side.

As I said in another post, why in the world would Apple go through all the trouble of coordinating leaks just to pull a gotcha on the .1% of their customer base who are hanging on every hint of what the next device will be.

Apple will sell millions of these regardless of what it looks like. They are far more interested in ramping up production to meet demand (which inevitably leads to production line leaks) than spending money trying to give a few hardcore internet fans a total surprise on launch day.

+1 I lol'd

At least with other phone makers, you'll have a new phone to play with in 6 months. Not like the ridiculously long 2 year cycle we get from Apple.

To OP's question: I think the leaks are exactly what we'll get. Apple has (intentionally or not) painted themselves in a corner with this square, sharp-edged petite design.

The reason being is that most other decent, modern shapes have already been used by everyone else (One X, Nexus and Nokia 920 for example - I won't include the GSIII because it's this side of ugly). If Apple strayed from their world renowned brick design, they'd look a bit silly and would, themselves, be viewed as imitators. This is what happens when you go 2 years between designs.

The fallout, both good and bad, will be interesting Wednesday and all this speculation will end.

I'd be surprised, but can't say if it would be good or bad until I see if it's better than what's leaked.

This idea is ridiculous. You guys need to find other things to play with.

I would be very happy for apple to have been able to fake this much, but than again unless the phone is something that looks like its from out of space, it probably wont affect my purchasing decision.

I would be happy that Apple pulled a fast one on us all, but if the leaked phones are real, I'll still be happy.

Certain parts of the leaks could be faked. As someone pointed out, you could mill out a block of aluminum for under $50. But the finished PCB and ribbon cables are another story. It's too cost prohibitive to fake those. So I would be HIGHLY surprised if what we see is anything different than the leaks out there.

"Did you bitches really think I'd bring out just a slightly taller phone?"

:D

I'd be happy if it were fake. I don't really look forward to having to buy all new accessories to handle a completely different dock configuration.

I also don't like the fact that the screen is longer. Let the Android makers make "phablets", I like my phone's screen size the way it is.

Regardless, I'm upgrading for one simple reason -- the next device will have 64 gigs of storage, and because I store so much data on the device, the more capacity the better.

I will miss how easy it is to jailbreak and keep jailbroken iOS versions are on the iPhone 4. Even if they are tethered.

Then I tip my hat to Tim Cook. For orchestrating the largest bait and switch since the Macy's Rick Roll of '08.
